Prof. Dr.Satya Vrat Shastri's Thai Ramayana 38. A rebellion in Lanka

A bit of the original:
Ravana having been subjected to death, when Vibhisana was ruling Lanka, there was an excellent lady Mandodari by name, who was formerly the chief queen of Ravana.

Now the king Vibhisana made this wife of his brother his own wife. With the seed deposited by Ravana in her womb, she gave birth to a son, at the proper time.

This son, Vainaasuravamsa grew up and he had an attendant, Varanisura, who told him stories about his father Ravana and specially about what Vibhisana had done. Injustice done to his father by his uncle provoked the youth and he wanted vengeance. He thought, that son only is esteemed on the earth who punishes persons who have done harm to his father.

The prince went to his father's friend, the king of Malivan, Cakravartin and told him what he had in his mind.  The  king agreed to help as he thought, if anybody deserves punishment in this world it is only that one who does harm to one's own kith and kin. They both marched towards the city of Lanka and surrounded it with troops. At that time Asuraphad, son of Hanuman and Benjakayi, lived with Vibhisana. He somehow escaped from the city and went looking for his father for help. He knew his father was practicing austerities in the mountains.

The reason for the austerities in the mountains happened this way. One day while roaming in the forests, Hanuman was attaracted by the juicy mangoes in a tree and at once began to eat them. The juice from the mangoes poured all over his body as he bit them. True to the nature of a monkey, he began to wipe his body with his two hands. His ladies saw this and laughed. Ashamed and insulted, he made up his mind to practice austerities. Hanuman went to sage Disphail for guidance. The sage pondered over it and gave him a human figure as he could not see how a monkey could do penance!

Same time Asuraphad went looking for his father and saw a person doing penance, stopped to ask him whether he had seen Hanuman anywhere. Hanuman replied that 'I am Hanuman' and wanted to know why the young man wanted to meet him.

His son was not amused as he thought he was being fooled by a human. 'My father is a monkey and do you know. O vile hermit, the celestial power of my father? He swallowed the sun, the stars and the moon taking them for fruits.'
