Vibhisana having heard the harsh words of his brother, very much insulted but still calm at heart, forsook his brother, as a physician forsakes after the ailment becomes incurable. He, the wise one, instantly came to Rama, the refuge, the abode of protection, having made obeisance told him how Ravana had dealt with him and requested to be accepted.
Having heard the story the soft-hearted Rama, on account of affection readily accepted him, though he had come from the side of the enemy. After reposing their trust in one another they spent some time together happily.
The brother of the king of demons had knowledge of the best monkey soldiers but had not seen them. When he reached the camp and saw them, he was wonder-struck. He thought 'There is a world of difference between the demon warriors and the loose-bodied monkeys. Will these monkeys be able to fight with the scions of the dynasty of the demons?'
He expressed his apprehension to Sugirva , who in turn ordered the monkeys, 'O mighty ones, show at once your prowess to this scion of the family of demons, so that today he may come to know of your power, of which he is quite ignorant.'
At the worlds of the chief of the army, the monkeys began to display their prowess. Violently, some of them uprooted the huge trees and some uprooted the mountains and held them in their hands. Others hid the sun at once, by which the world was covered with pitch darkness! A few by their speed proved the wind weak and some more made the fathomless sea dry.
Vibhisana, the magnanimous younger brother of Ravana, having seen all this was filled with surprise. He said to the radiant-faced Sugriva that he had never seen its equal before and considered the victory of Rama as certain.
