Prof.Dr. Satya Vrat Shastri's Thai Ramayana 39, Lanka rebellion crushed!

Hanuman pleased to hear words of praise from his son, said that it was true that he had swallowed the sun, stars and the moon in the past! 'I have assumed this human form to practise austerities. If you don't believe me, wait I shall convince you.'  He then took his original form and devoured the sun, the moon and the stars all together, with his son looking at him with great wonder.

Contrite, the son clasped the feet of his father and asked to be forgiven. Hanuman raised his son and embraced him tightly with tears in his eyes said that it was totally understandable as neither had seen the other. He felt that his austerities had produced immediate result as he found a son, a gem. His son also said he was happy that all the sacrifices he had performed had borne fruit.

The son then related the whole story about the city of Lanka. Disturbed, Hanuman gave up his austerities and went to  Kishkinda to collect an army and from there he went on to Ayodhya. Accompanied by Bharata and Satrugna,  marched towards Lanka with a determination of liberating it.

On reaching the ocean he enlarged his body and built a causeway on it, by which means all the troops, observing discipline went easily to the other side. They settled down on a mountain in the vicinity of Lanka. Initially they tried to negotiate, having failed,  a devastating battle ensued. The armies attacked each other with swords, stones, trees, arrows and hands.

In the battle Vainaasuravamsa was killed and Vibhisana was set free. Then the victorious army marched to the territory of king of Malivan. A fierce battle was fought and the king lost one by one all his three sons. His comapanion named Vetala was slain by Nila.

In the end Bharata, the best among the wise, with the help of Brahma-missile,  killed the king of Malivan, the fierce warrior. Bharata installed Macchanu, the noble son of Hanuman  as the king and  Ratnamali  the dear and intelligent daughter of Cakravarti was chosen to be his wife.

Good to see that Bharata and Shatrugna have a role to play in Thai Ramayana.  I also learn that Shatrugna killed Lavanasura later during  Rama's reign. Lavanasura was the bad son of good demon Madhu!

I read in the Hindu newspaer that there are temples for Bharata and Shatrugna in Kerala.
'Of late, ‘Nalambala darshanam’ is gaining popularity among a large number of devotees.
The pilgrimage to the four temples named after the presiding deities Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrugna, the four brothers in the epic, during Karkkidakam is considered auspicious by devotees. The pilgrimage to the four temples can begin in the morning and be completed by forenoon, according to N. Sukumaran Namboodiri, convenor of the Nalambala Darshan Committee.
The temples have been centres of worship for centuries, he said.
It is believed that worshipping all the four deities in the space of a day would bring solace and peace to devotees, he said.
The Sri Rama temple at Ramapuram is situated about 60 km from Ernakulam. The Koodappulam Lakshmana temple is situated 3.5 km from Ramapuram. The Bharata temple at Amanakara is located at 4 km from Koodappulam while the Shatrugna temple.at Methiry is located at a distance of 3 km from Amanakara. Again, the Sri Rama temple at Ramapuram is situated 5 km from Methiry. It will be ideal to visit the temples of Sri Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrugna in that order, according to him.'
